Hey there in my last post about how to write headlines we discussed 4 of 8 basic headline types that you can use to write headlines that work.
These are copywriters basics for producing those eye catching headlines to bring people into the body copy and hopefully to take an action or make your point.
This can be used for blogging, articles any kind of ads that you may want to use to advertise your product or services.
Either way you only have a fraction of time a lot of times to catch someone’s eye so you can share your message.
Ok so now that we have the warm up done let’s get into the other 4 techniques so we will start with….
5. Question Headlines:
To be effective, the question headline must ask a question that the reader can empathize with or would like to see answered. So you have to be sure you are really targeting the market that you are in with your questions. Like for me with a business builders blog to write headlines with questions would pertain to problems like traffic generation, marketing tactics etc., etc.
A good example would be ”What do Japanese Managers Have That American Managers Lack?”
6. Command Headlines:
Command headlines generate sales by telling your prospects what to do. When people write headline of the command nature they work better with a strong verb demanding action on the part of the reader. A good example would be
“Aim High. Reach For New Horizons” U.S. Airforce
7. Reason-Why Headlines:
These are great to tie in with body copy that you are making your point with a 1-2-3 fashion. Writing your ad or article this way, you can use a reason-why headline to introduce the list.
A good example would be ” 10 Reasons Why You Should Invest In Gold Now”
8. Testimonial Headlines:
In these types of headlines your customers or peers do your selling for you. When you write headlines like these it helps to have a picture of the person giving the testimonial and to have quotation marks around the headline and body copy if to use the body as well for the testimonial. It is suggested to use the user’s own words and don’t try to polish them to much this makes it even more authentic to the reader.
A good example would be The Publishers Clearing House commercial in which past winners tell about how they won big prizes in the past.
Well that would cover the 8 basic ways to write headlines that don’t well..suck.
If you have any other suggestions or experience please leave them in comments below or please share using the facebook and twitter buttons.
Thanks,
Steve

Steve,
your on fire my friend. This is a great subject matter to get involved with.
I agree, those headers are an eye catcher. You can increase your skills by placing free ads. This way you can test market without cost.
I love pitches and write them to get attention. I found most people respond to the same key words all the time. Its like bees to honey and never lets me down.
I will not just create one without real usable content. I do not sell items. However, I do generate a huge following by writing awareness headers. “Free Unlimited Lifetime Support” has been running on fire for over 10 years. I just keep updating it.
Steve your a man of character and one of our great visionaries in this industry. I learn allot from reading your articles. We all appreciate all you do.
