That’s sacrilegious in certain circles and for this I’m truly sorry but like I mentioned above sometimes goodbye is better.
Well why would you need to uninstall wordpress Steve you might ask.
Well there could be several reasons…how good are you at php?
Maybe your like a certain blogger who very innocently wanted to crank up a niche blog on a separate domain but forgot he had software with it’s own index file and this would cause conflicts.
Sound like you? Well not to worry the blogger recovered and no important software was harmed while uninstalling wordpress.
Why would you write blog about how to uninstall wordpress?
Well because it used to be a convenient affair. You would go to Tools>Delete Blog go a few more steps get an email that you wanted to uninstall wordpress and your done.
I don’t mean to say it’s terribly difficult now to uninstall wordpress you basically just go back to fantastico and click remove and your done right?
Well depending on the circumstance you could be but if you plan on putting a blog back up later after uninstalling wordpress you need to watch this video below:

So I hope this little adventure of mine has been helpful to you. If it has please share this by clicking on any of the facebook or twitter buttons lying around.

Hey, I tried what you suggested in the video but the folder still re-appears and will not delete. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Thanks so much for your tutorial – it was exactly what I needed!
Thanks for the information Steve. This helped me out a great deal.
Love the accent by the way.
Hello Steve
Thank you so very much for the informative video. You pinpointed exactly what i needed to do which was remove a blog and reinstall. So for me it was refreshing. Thank you so much for the title too because titles can be so generic but you added in brackets [using fantastico] and i really feel that benefitted everyone.
] just in case its different courses for different horses.
I would just like to finish by adding that when i watched your video and followed along that in my version of fantastico there was no checkbox next to the item for example ‘wp-admin’ i only needed to highlight ‘wp-admin’ and then click delete also when it came to going up one level it took me to my domain name folder then going up a second level brought me to the public.html and then when i followed the route back two steps the php file was removed so there was no need to change the permissions to 777. I know this sounds pedantic but i want to offer it up to you just so you have another angle. By the way my hosting and cPanel is with hostgator. [thats not a plug
Steve, your work is mightily appreciated. Thank you once again. Kit

Hi Steve,
Thanks for this wonderful tutorial. From last 1 week I had tried to uninstall wordpress but I’m totally failed. Thanks for such great tutorial.
Hello Aniket no problem I learned the same way by watching someone else. I am glad it helped.

You are a life saver! I screwed up the transfer of my ‘old’ blog file to my ‘new’ self-hosted blog, contacted Liquid Web, my host, and was advised that the best way to handle my error was to delete WP, reinstall WP then reimport my blog file. Yeesh! Your video was so, so helpful. Thank you!
Thank so much for your kind words. You know you never know even how obscure a topic might be when it could benefit someone. It was just a gut feeling I had to do it seems it paid off and thanks for the visit.

Hi Steve,
Great, easy step-by-step tutorial on how to uninstall WordPress on your domain. Now this works with add on domains as well, right? Because I need to do some “house cleaning” there
Have a great week!

Hello Ilka yes it will work on add ons as well. Just make sure when your in your Cpanel and go to your public html folder that you open up that subdomain. Hope that helps Ilka and thanks for stopping by.
