I am currently going through a 31 day challenge for a better blog this is day 2 so it calls for me to write a list post.
I drew a blank at first but then I thought about a list I have right here on my blog my Twitter Resource page.
Couldn’t be more perfect as far as timing so alas a post is born.
A lot of these resources are listed there but some I need to add but any of them you will find useful so let’s start with my personal favorite..
1. TweetDeck
If you want your tweets organized you need some kind of interface like this. Hoote Suite is great to but I am just more familiar with the deck.
From the interface you can see the last 200 tweets from whoever is in your twitter verse.
You will see your Direct Messages, A General Timeline (that’s you, your followers etc.) and tweets specifically to you via mentions, retweets or whatever. Just saves you time in twitter.
Here are a few more. You can shoot a video and post right to twitter, take a picture and post, or use the queue feature and set up tweets to go out at a later time.
Here watch the video I made on this twitter tool. Moving right along….
Now this is great when using twitter. For you analytic freaks you will love it.
Open your account click and drag the side bar to your browser.
Go to the page you want to tweet (hmmm I don’t know a lead capture page, blog) open the side bar the link is already shortened for you.
Add a message tweet then go back to tweetburner in a few and see how many clicks on your link.
That simple use this information to determine what call to actions are working best in your micro blogs.
I use this service a lot.
Mainly what I use it for is to automate messages to my new followers thanking them for following me.
Also I have it set up to vet or review new followers so that I can approve or disapprove them and that way I keep out a lot of bots and spammers.
4. Buzzom
Buzzom I use a lot to unfollow those who break the code either to spammy, potty mouthed or just don’t follow back this is a quick fix to rid your timeline of the undesirables in twitter.
5. Tweepi
Tweepi is another good resource I use to unfollow.
You can go through 20 at a time with the free version 40 with the paid.
The difference here is it gives you more stats about who your unfollowing and verses doing this one at time you can check them off and unfollow 20-40 at once.
You ever curious who unfollowed you?
Now you can find out with this little jewel. You may want to keep track of this.
If it seems the business and the professional types are leaving but the riff raff is sticking you might want to clean up the tweets.
This has really evolved into let’s follow each other about anything.
But don’t underestimate it. People can keep retweeting these forever and getting you some free exposure for a little amount of work.
Anyway the time consuming part can be adding peoples twitter names and this and that this really helps speed up the process.
I think some people shy away from twitter because they don’t have any thing to say.
This is really just one of many places to find stuff to tweet about this can help give you some ideas and there are many ways to do it.
The most basic is if you find something interesting there open up the link copy and paste the url add your 2 cents then tweet.
Now if your using tweet deck it will automatically shorten your url’s as well.
This is a twitter resource page by a good friend of mine John Woodman a lot of the services here he has recommended to me.
He has a lot constant updates and videos that you will find useful so if you are having problems on how to use any of the services go check out his videos.
He also has a Q&A session on ustream on Saturdays at 9pm EST.
10. Twaitter
This is a great tool for queuing tweets and I use this when tweetdeck is acting stupid.
What I think is really cool about it is I can schedule a tweet or tweets and set them up to blast out daily, weekly etc., etc. from here to infinity for free.
Unlike social oomph where you have to pay for this. Put some thought into that for your marketing.
Well I hope you found this post helpful.
If you did click on any of the facebook and of course the retweet buttons (so twitter this). Also if you dug it digg it and don’t forget to bookmark and share.
Thanks for reading and until next time…

Steve,
This a great list of resources for Twitter. I have really took Ty Tribble’s advice about using Twitter to leverage your business and it has worked.
It has given my content more exposure. That is why these resources are key to helping your Twitter account. I have already used some of these resources and look forward to trying some of these others.

That’s great Tommy Ty Tribble is one of the best out there.
I get his updates to and I really enjoy the value he offers.
I hope you find some of the tools here useful and keep up the great things you are doing.
Take care and thanks for your visit.

Hey Steve,
Tewiffic list idea for you Steve since you have always had a bit of a soft spot for Twitter as I recall.
I am always amazed at how many supporting sites and software exist for Twitter. I have to admit although I have over 10 000 followers on Twitter it’s not something I give a lot of attention to, mainly because it seems to be a monster I have not taken the time to learn how to tame.
Great that you are doing the 31 day challenge. It can only hone your skills and at the price it’s well worth it. I read Pro Blogger often. In fact my next post is one that recommend s video Darren did about Social Media.

Hey Marcus,
As of this comment you 10,140 I just followed you maybe you could fit me in as well lol.
Yes it is twuly amazing how many are that are out there. Also amazing is how many twitter shuts down because of some violation.
These seem to work well and be in compliance and of course come with a high recommendation from me.
And thanks for the support on the 31 day challenge and your visit.
The biggest help really was right there in chapter one and that was writing an elevator pitch for your blog and who it’s for.
This really keeps me focused.

Hey Steve,
That was a Twondeful Twist Of Twitter Tools……I currently use Social Oomph and have used it for quite awhile, I do like the layout and how easy it is to use. I also use a tool called Hummingbird that helps me build up my followers and filters through people that are not active on twitter.
Great tlist and thank you !
Hi Robert,
Glad you enjoyed the twist I mean list.
Social Oomph is great it really makes things so much easier with the welcome dm’s and reviewing followers.
I like the options offered to automatically follow or vet this can be a big time saver and enhance the quality of your followers dramatically.
I hear hummingbird is great anyone getting there accounts suspended that you know of?
Thanks for the visit.

Great info Steve- still having my love hate thing going on with Twitter!
The more automated it becomes the more of a convoluted dance that seems to take place – ironically i am less likely to follow back those with very big follower numbers unless there is some common interest- as its so hard to engage 20k plus types
and yet I keep feeling this leviathan is still evolving and so i’ll stay on the treadmill and see where its heading.
Re Tweet Adder I did get it and it sounds good but doesn’t seem to like my Mac not sure if that’s my incompetence or a Mac compatibility thing
Thanks for sharing and i clicked through on some of the links above
Cheers Kiaran
Hello Kirian that is very accurate description of the twitter beast.
And that’s what it is a beast I think it’s the sleeping monster in the closet to be honest.
I thought tweet adder was so adored because it was compatible with both mac and pc??
I hate your having the issue and I hate to also be the bearer of bad news but I hear customer service is sub par as well.
I hope it works out for you and thanks for the visit.

Great list Steve.
Thanks for showing me the who unfollowed me site.
Lately I have noticed people who follow me then unfollow a few days later. I finally figured out what they were doing. They were looking for people who use auto-follow to build up their lists and then unfollow a few days later hoping no one would notice.

Ever get the feeling that people scheme on levels not even worth worrying about!!
That is a tactic for someone way to involved with twitter but alas I guess there black hats wherever you go.
Hey but pretty smart to figure that out never even thought of that!!
Thanks as always for your visit friend.

Steve,
Great article and thanks for the mention to the site, much appreciated. I myself have tried out Tweet Adder and you can do a lot of different things with it, but most those I can manage for free with other tools. The biggest thing most people like about it is being able to use keywords to find new people to follow. A service that SocialOomph also has. I myself don’t add my new followers that way, I simply either wait for them to follow me, find them through suggestions of people I follow or stumble across during my surfing the web.
The one toll I think you forgot to mention for twitter, that I think is my all time favorite, but don’t use it nearly enough myself is bubletweet – http://bubbletweet.com that allows you to record a 30 second video to your followers, because you can say a lot more in 30 seconds than you can in 140 characters.
Good luck to you all and thank you again Steve, it means a lot

Hello John,
Thanks for the great overview of tweet adder.
I have heard great things about it as well but honestly after some research I have also heard a lot of cases where accounts were getting suspended by twitter and poor customer service to boot.
But still an overall good review.
Yes I did forget to leave out bubbletweet in the post but it is and has been on my resource page like you I think it’s great I just don’t use it that much especially since tweet deck added the video feature.
It was good to see you here thanks for stopping by.
Steve
Wow, I have never heard of a lot of these tools. I’m with Karen though, TweetAdder is one that I use. I’m also looking at Hummingbird. Now I do use SocialOomph and I peeked at HootSuite. I’m no a real big Twitter guy but I’m learning.
Fred Williams
The Simple Video Marketer
That’s great Fred I’m glad you are exploring the twitter verse.
Maybe one some of these tools could supplement tweet adder.
Hootsuite is great but I really like tweetdeck better just so much easier to navigate for me.
I can’t help but notice no link love with your comments I’m not missing any new post am I?
Take care and thanks for stopping by it’s appreciated.
Steve
You obviously spend a lot of effort marketing with twitter Steve. have you had much success? twitter is not something that I push much energy into as I don’t believe ones posts are around long enough to be seen by masses of people, irrespective of how many are following you.

Hello Michael,
Yes I have been focusing more on twitter.
I am gaining ground by weeding out the wrong kind of participants and getting more targeted with my follows.
I am seeing a lot more interaction and responses to my marketing tweets. I can see your point on exposure there is a much faster pace here but that can be a good thing to.
With facebook by the time I comment and share a few blogs I have pushed a marketing post down the line as well. Thanks for stopping by.
Steve
Love the post title, Steve; shows the “softer” side of you:).
I use 2 paid Twitter tools: TweetAdder and MarketMeTweet (the latter lets you brand your tweets with your website link instead of the application link – can’t beat that).

Tweet Adder really seems to be the king of the hill maybe it would be worth a try.
The only thing with kind of stuff is something shinier seems to come along as soon as you purchase it.
But I have to say it comes highly recommended. Thanks for the visit let’s do shopping soon.
Steve
Hi Steve,
I don’t spend much time on Twitter, but I do have a couple of those.
I have wondered who unfollowed me so I will be checking that one out for sure. Thanks!

Hello Susanna
To each his (or her) own it sure is a personal choice. I have just recently turned some focus on it and want to be as effective as possible.
I have found these work for me and wanted to share these tools with anyone else who may be in that position. That is a pretty neat little tool about the unfollow you can even tweet a smart aleck remark about being unfollowed though I don’t recommend it.
Steve
What? No TweetAdder fans? It is my personal favorite…very cool!
Karen I have heard nothing but good things about it and as a matter of fact seems to be the tool to beat.
Every new tool that comes along is compared to that in one way or another.
But as far as I know it’s still king of the hill. And to answer I was trying to stay on the free side the house is why.
Thanks for taking the time to visit.

Hey Steve,
What a list you put together. There are a few that I’ve never tried before. Now, instead of Tweetdeck I use Hootsuite. I believe they both do the same thing. Now, let me go and check out some of these tools.

I will have to check out some of these apps. Another good app for unfollowing is http://www.refollow.com where you can do 100 in one go. Just be careful how you use it, so far I have not had any problems but I do mix it up with buzzom.
