Social Marketing Strategies And How?

by Steve Shoemaker on July 14, 2010

%keywordWhat social marketing strategies are you currently using for your internet mlm business?

In my last post I talked about socially optimizing your business and making an art of connecting with people.

But that was more a less primer for making real connections. A good analogy would be gathering the tools you need to build something lasting.

So what social marketing strategies are you using to make good connections and build your base of business opportunity leads?

Can I share a few that work for me? Proceed you say? Well allow me…

1. Get Valuable

Let me first point out that value is in the eye of the reader not yours. You have to constantly put yourself in your readers shoes and ask ” what will make them interested and want more?”

Take stock or yourself what do you have that would be valuable to others? People want to follow or associate with people that pass value on to them.

We all have something to share of value if we have a confident view of ourselves.

We can share something an epiphany, some new training we took part in, a great article we read about internet mlm, a personal success or failure something.

The options are endless when you think in abundance and confidence. But we can’t just ramble on about something we have to focus and ..

2. Be  Specific

People are going to pay attention to what is relevant to THEM.  When you put specific material out there to address a specific problem people eat it up.

I know I do. You want business opportunity leads? Find a problem you can offer a solution to.

Think in terms of what is broke that you want to fix? Or have you figured out a new approach to an old problem?

Your biggest challenge won’t be finding a problem or group of people that want and need advice. It will be finding that specific problem or group that you want to tackle or shine with.

So how do we tie our first two social marketing strategies together for optimal results by….

3. Being Consistent

Develop a consistent presence. Be in front of your market all the time.

Just making random attempts to connect no matter how valuable and specific your information is can be fatal.

Internet mlm means well you have to be on the internet!!

I’m not saying be spammy just be there all the time!

Become a habit to your market offering valuable and specific content, advice, links, comments as often as possible.

Take the time to answer some questions or maybe send an email to some and just inquire how their efforts are getting along just add the personal touch.

Then when the time comes and they are ready for your solution they will think of you and probably only you because of all the good advice and value you have given them along the way.

I would love to hear back on others are generating business opportunity leads take advantage of this time to expand on this.

Don’t have anything to say well that’s that perfectly ok. Here’s another social marketing strategy you can use right now “SHARE” if you feel this content has helpful click on any of the facebook and retweet buttons.

If you dig it let people know you dug it. Never hurts to bookmark and share.

Well I have been at it long enough. Thanks for stopping by and until next time.

Great points for anyone to follow, Steve.

One of the key ingredients for a successful business is consistency. You can’t expect consistent, good results if you do things by chance. Your goal should be to provide your followers with valuable content and solutions to their problems, on a consistent basis.

Thanks for sharing.

All the best,

Mavis this is true we can’t expect something for nothing and that’s what we are telling ourselves if we think we can move forward without focused action. I agree again we can be consistent but we have to be about quality as well or it’s really for nothing. Thanks for the visit and take care.

Thank you Fred I appreciate the comment. Please don’t think I’m juvenile when I write this but it takes one to know one. I really believe that. I wrote it from that perspective and you read it the same way. I didn’t mean that arrogantly but it is a call for leadership “involved leadership” that is but that is what will make the difference. Thanks for kind words and comments I appreciate it.

Hi Steve,

Those are all solid pointers. I think if someone is lacking even one of those, it’s going to really hurt business. A great combination of the 3 and you’ve really got something going for you.

Awesome post!

Hi Steve,

Absolutely right about value is what other perceive and not what you perceive. It’s only valuable if it is helping other solve a problem or giving them some advice. Great post as usual.

Hi Steve Great article-I’m not an MLMer myself but the ideas relate to most internet and offline marketing businesses.

Social media is changing a lot of people’s perceptions of engagement and the importance of building authentic relationships. Networks are getting bigger and people like myself are more and more likely to look for people within our reciprocal networks with whom to do business

Continued success

Kirian mlm’er or not I couldn’t agree more. The more people get familiar and adept at using social media they are going to expect and demand the right type of interaction. Spammers will always be around but they will be seen as all the more annoying and naive. I think it would be wise to look within our networks for people to do business with. In my opinion before long anybody worth doing business with will be in some kind of network anyway. Thanks for the visit and I look forward to more great post.

Steve, I think when you say “value is in the eye of the reader not yours” you are hitting the nail right in the middle of the head!

Perceptions are dangerous things, the last thing any online marketer needs is the reader to form a negative perception in their head of you & what you CAN’T do for them.

You HAVE to keep asking yourself whether what you are doing is valuable for the person reading it, something that is not easy to do. You need to push your own agenda to the side.

And yes,if you can be consistent in your daily activities in building your online business & then be persistent in the execution of those duties – you are already further ahead than 90% of the so-called marketers out there.

Have an inspired day!

Michael wow great comment I appreciate it and totally agree with it. I think to succeed with social media in a business sense it has to be mostly a selfless effort. If we are really going to offer solutions we have to understand the problem. That is best done by putting ourselves in the other persons shoes. Doing this in a consistent, specified and value driven way I think we will do really great here. Thanks for the visit and I really enjoyed your post.

Be specific is the best advice to give to a newbie and even some more seasoned marketers.

Many marketers try to be jacks of all trades and we know what happens to them – they are masters of none.

It’s much more valuable to become an expert in a narrow niche!

Great topic to bring up, Steve.

Thank you Anna I agree. A targeted market is just a more efficient and sane way to conduct business. If I can get a bigger piece of a smaller pie life is still very good. As for being a jack of all trades I would rather have extensive knowledge in one or two areas than be familiar with many.

Hey Steve,

I love the way this post flowed. It’s important to be valuable, specific, and consistant. Learning and focusing on something that people are asking about and staying persistent on putting that information in front of your niche market will result in a great outcome. As repetitive as it may seem, the rewards will show for it. Thanks for sharing Steve!!!

Thank you Sherman for the great compliment! It doesn’t always work out that way does it? But we don’t have to be perfect either do we? I think our flaws make us more approachable but they can also cost us if we don’t watch out. That is why we must always maintain a diligence to be consistent, value driven and target minded even when we don’t feel like it and when things aren’t going our way. When we have that mind set everything in life flows even when it appears not to be. Thanks again for the compliment and the visit. Take care.

Oliver I have to agree consistency is the motor that drives that engine that are other very important factors but they want necessarily make your business grind to halt as fast as a lack of consistency and like Tom Wagner said persistence.

Three good points. The one on consistency falls right along with being persistent which is one of the factors Nepoleon Hill wrote a whole chapter on. Of the three, that is the hardest one for me and I would guess for many people.

Yes I agree it’ harder to be consistent than anything. But they all work together if we are consistently putting out general and worthless content where would be? It’s like consistency is the motor of the business and being specific and giving value are the proper oil and gas. Thanks for your visit Tom I appreciate it.

Hey Steve,

First off, Thank You for the feature role in your video. Funny, back in school I used to hate being called attention to. Times change.

As for Tweetdeck, it seems way more functional than social oomph that I’m using now. I’m going to schedule some time for those five videos.

Great Michael and I still wish I had of asked you first. But I had a good feeling. I use Social oomph to vet my followers and also when you que there you can actually save them its more automated but to get right in the middle of twitter you can’t beat the deck.
