MLM Tips: Social Media Basics

by Steve Shoemaker on June 23, 2010

%keywordSo you have decided to start an internet mlm business now your growing it.

It’s now time for some mlm tips to help you expand your influence in social media and start driving traffic from social sites to your websites.

This can be a scary task at first but if you take your time and do it right you can begin to build trust and authority with those you interact with.

I think these 4 guidelines will help you on your way to social media stardom. So let the YOUinc. show begin.

1. Go Small

Don’t take on to much in the beginning. People let emotions rule when growing their internet mlm business’s.

Growing social media profiles is a lot of work so don’t sign up for every single one and then try to make a name for yourself.

I always suggest just trying a couple at first FaceBook to me is the #1 social site to start with.

Facebook is good for having indepth conversations and really getting to know people involved or wanting to get involved with internet mlm.

Next would be Twitter if done correctly where you are growing a targeted market not just twittin with everyone who wants to follow you can be a nice place to build relationships.

You can drive these contacts to FaceBook  again and really start to connect with them on a more personal level.

2. Check Out A Pro

Everyone has their own style and you will have to develop yours.

But it doesn’t hurt to check out a pro and see how they conduct themselves on social media and what they are offering their friends or followers.

Some help in these regards would be to check out  Chris Brogan for great mlm tips on blogging and social media.

Also a site called wefollow.com to find influential followers on twitter in your niche.

3. No Bug Zone

The goal in social media is to be helpful first.

Don’t start bugging people by shoving your internet mlm business down their throats before they even know who you are.

People follow and respect people who are leaders and are helpful. Not self promoting fools hitting every social media site, group and timeline with something to sell!

With behavior like this you sell yourself short in the long run trust me.

4. Keep It Real

A lot of people starting out think they have to make claims to being an expert.

I mean you don’t want to mislead people but you don’t want to come off as a total novice either.

The trick is to do your homework while you build your business and never stop learning or working.

From this you will gain invaluable experience and knowledge which you can then pass on to others and help people in the same position you were.

Well I hope these 4 steps will come in handy. If your ready to start learning and earning then check out these mlm tips.

I would love to hear from you if this has been helpful. Also click on anything that says facebook, retweet or bookmark if you think it has.

Until next time…

Even though this subject could be incredibly touchy for most folks, my opinion is the fact that there has to be a middle or common ground that we all can locate. I do appreciate that youve added relevant and intelligent commentary here although. Thank you!

Yes I guess it can be but the trick is to just have a sense of community then think about how you should act in that community you don’t want to be the town hermit or the know it all. We can all find room in the middle and still be individuals.

Ryan I agree it takes longer sometimes to do things the right way but once you get the big mo (momentum) on your side your climb will be a lot surer and faster than those who take the opportunity first approach. Thanks for the visit and take care.

Hey Steve,
You've made some really good points. Especially #3. Ironically the people who really start to stick out are those offering true value, not the ones trying to “one-up” each other with who has the better comp plan or product.

Great post!

Jerome the right foundation is everything. I think these are some good building blocks for that foundation. I know I was fortunate enough to have mentors teach me this early on.

Keysha I couldn't agree more of course. We need take break this thing up into small pieces then start to put the puzzle together. I've heard that for some task it takes 10,000 hours to master them. But no matter what you just keep exposing yourself to it little by little and you will get better over time you have to.

Great post Steve. It is so important to not try and tackle it all at once. Facebook is great and it's where I am right now. Thanks for sharing.

Yes Jordan we all have avoid that temptation you have to crawl before you walk as they say. Coming from a man I consider the FaceBook Jedi Master I hope people take heed to that.

I have to agree with you about choosing 1 Steve… I'm sure everyone makes this beginner mistake… I myself spread myself across social media, and got nothing accomplished.

Focus on 1 until you totally understand it and are fluent in lead generation… then move on!

Thanks Sherman I'll be honest that was the target audience the beginners we can always correct mistakes just trying to help before it comes to that.

I most certainly agree Oliver and this being overwhelmed has probably what has killed some otherwise promising futures for marketers. I mean if we ever just get really good at a couple of things and master just one our business can explode.

Hi Steve,
as always you're sharing great tips. It's crucial to stick to one strategy until it works and then move to the next (your tip to start small) because it's so easy to become overwhelmed.
Take care
Oliver

Thanks Marcus I appreciate yes I have been doing some experimenting with different plug ins and such. As for the content I think it’s a good approach certainly not the only one but these will be good guidelines to follow.
