Google Plus Basics How To Get Started

Google Plus are you using it yet?

If your not you really need to try it.

It has some great features that could be very beneficial for connecting and to me once you get used to it some of the features are a lot easier than Facebook.

I really like the Google Hangouts these are fantastic for connecting with team members, prospects or just to “hang out”.

Like anything else there is a little learning curve involved with getting started.

So I kind of documented my learning curve with screen shares so that I could share them with my team mates from the Network Marketing Superstars Tribe.

Quick plug if your a blogger and in a network marketing business please let me know and I would love to send you some information to join our great community for content syndication and connecting with like minded network marketers.

Now back to Google Plus you will need a Gmail account to get started.

From there click on the +You icon to get started setting up your profile.

Now after you are done setting up your profile you will be prompted to invite people via email and from other places that is pretty intuitive so I want get into that here.

This will have you ready to go and now that you have people to connect with you will want to add them to “Circles”. Circles are like lists or subscribing to someone on facebook.

You don’t have friend request per say on Google Plus so when you add someone to one of your circles you are subscribed to them or vice versa.

When they add you back in a circle of theirs you are now “friends” on Google Plus.

This next screen shot will explain how to add someone to a Circle by going to their profile there are other ways to do it but this is the most straight forward and easiest to explain.

I used this screen shot to explain this to some team members in Network Marketing Superstar Tribe so hence the reference.

The second will show you where to find your profile link in case you want to share it with others and how to find you on Google Plus.

See it’s not that hard with a little guidance and I hope that I helped you with that.  This is is very basic but it will help you get set up and start connecting with people on Google Plus.

In tomorrows post I am going to cover how to install the plug in you will need for what is called Google hangouts which are basically video conferences on Google plus and I am going to show you how to adjust your camera and audio settings so you can be seen and heard when you do.

Thanks for reading and if you found this Google Plus post helpful please share and comment I would appreciate it and would like to know what else you may need.

  1. Hi Steve,

I specifically came to your site to get a better overview of Google+ I have had a Google+ account since it was introduced, but of course, it has been on the back-burner because of Facebook. My interest has drastically changed in the last couple months and I am starting to see the advantages of this platform. One thing for sure is there is experiencing more freedom in Google+. I really like that aspect. I’m still a newbie with it, but I’m liking it more and more. The Hour of Power Google Hangout was the clincher for me. Thanks for clearing up a couple of questions I had about using it, and I’m moving on to your next post to continue. Thanks!
