Well it seems FaceBook the king of social media services is looking to expand it’s kingdom’s borders. With a plan that was announced April 21 2010 at the F8 conference in San Francisco to make the web a more sociable and personal experience.
Mark Zuckerberg FB’s CEO called the new program Open Graph “the most transformative thing we have ever done for the web.”
That’s a pretty tall order wouldn’t you say? I mean there have been some pretty transformative things happen to the web in the last couple of years.
The creation of social media services like MySpace and Facebook being amongst them. So how will all of this transform our web experience? Lets dive a little deeper.
Facebook which has more 400 million members says that Open Graph will make it a lot easier for people to share their likes and dislikes all over the internet with basically a click or two.
The social network will pull all sorts of information about the websites a person reviews, the music , news stories or athletes the person favors.
This information will be shared with a person’s FaceBook friends on FaceBook of course and other participating sites. This will be accomplished by placing Like buttons on your websites or MLM Blogs etc.etc. and FaceBook members by clicking on them will be sharing that information directly from your site or sites.
Will Likes Replace Links??
Will the Like button be the new link? Facebook claims that the Like Buttons will be a form of social links better than the traditional link because they will be related to a specific user. If this really takes off look out Google who’s algorithm uses links between sites to establish their order in search results.
Facebook wants to change the open system of links between pages with these social links (Likes) that it will have control over. Google and the rest of the search giants won’t have much access to all these Likes, so the company best positioned to rank the web will be……….you guessed it Facebook.
What Does This Mean For Internet Marketing?
Can you imagine the simplicity of how something could go viral? Let’s say 30 people from Facebook visit your MLM Blog. These 30 people have an average of 1000 friends.
They read what they consider valuable content and think that some of their friends may benefit as well so they click on your Like button (more on how to get these later). And wham just like that you could be the talk of many towns.
This information or site is now in front of an potential audience of 30,000 people. Think about the psychology here for a minute.
It’s a proven fact people buy from people the like and trust right? Now how much more true is it that we will buy or be curious about something or someone from a referral of someone we like or are acquainted with?
Now my blogger friends are probably going big deal I can already do that with services like onlywire and the FB share button. This is true.
But what about the people who don’t have onlywire accounts or don’t really know what that FaceBook share button does. A lot more people are going to recognize a Like Button when they see it and almost automatically understand the concept.
What we are talking about is many times versatile than a plug in take the same scenario above and apply that to a lead capture page or some other website? We configure the HTML in our lead capture pages with a Like Button. These same 30 like what they see and the capture page itself could go viral!
Forget the blog your sales funnel and that whole concept now you are getting recommendations or “social links” to the point you were striving for anyway.
This little blog or example is not really doing this justice to me but I hope the potential here is starting take shape in your mind. What would happen if we got our content and lead capture pages in enough peoples media stream using this method??
YOUinc. goes viral with 100 times less the effort. Now again this has been launched but it really still in a conception stage but I would begin to take notice and try to stay in front of a trend that could really be a game changer.
Resources For Like Button Technology
Well of course Google is still king so you can start your search for some good websites on how to install the like button. Click here for a tutorial on how to add it to your blog or website.
Another method of course is a WP plug in. Do a search in your WordPress dashboard for FB Social Plugins. If your not using WordPress go to this site and upload the plugin.
My highest recommendation for now is based on a phenomenal blog and tutorial my friend Kyle Nelson put together for the wibiya plug in. If you are reading this look at the toolbar that is kind of hovering below just click on some the options and see for yourself.
I hope this has been helpful and if this does take off in the near future you can thank me by “Liking” me. Thanks for reading and I would appreciate some comments on how this could change things in your opinion. Take care and until next time.

True Lisa and lots of exposure will surely bring both. But time will usually weed out the tire kickers from the people ready to make a real change in their lives. Thanks for the visit.

Steve,
This post really got me thinking, I mean everyone knows the world is moving towards social media. & we all know how powerful is it to leverage it to grow our business..
But to think that it will overpower Google.. and get people to start thinking about Fan Pages instead of SEO – that's INSANE..
thanks for sharing this info bro,
