Well I guess my curiosity has gotten the best of me again. I am wanting to start another form of marketing and branding that I really haven’t gave much thought to.
I won’t bore you with a build up besides I think the title says it all…. article marketing. I now wish I had been doing a lot more of it all along it really seems like a natural extension of a blog.
Anyway enough of the mushy stuff. I have been reading some great post coming through the tribe on article marketing and have done some research on my own.
I wanted to share what I have learned so if there any others out there who maybe planning on implementing this powerful strategy to drive traffic to their site these points could be a good guidance system.
So let’s begin shall we?
1. Do Not Have Any Self Serving Links in Your Article Body: Really better stated no links at all would be nice. Some sites will accept a couple of links but most of the time it’s frowned upon.
Most article sites just want good content and they deserve it. Most of these services are free and a great means of exposure.
You don’ t want to appear like your just trying to make a buck off of them instead offering good material. Which will sale itself anyway if you think about it.
2. No More Than 2 Self Serving Links in Your Resource Box: This is the little box where you put a little something about you. Make this short to the point with no more 10% of the word count of the total article.
The article should point to your expertise not a mini autobiography. Getting back to the links one is really the best for the premier sites two at the most for any site.
One of the better mlm tips I have read is to use the keyword or words you are using as links. One of these links should come back to your blog or wherever you have the original article if you use two direct it back to a landing page and that will be fine.
Keep Your Article Word Count between 400-800 Words: We live in fast paced society people get bored very quickly and want their solutions or information to come at a fast pace.
No wonder the internet grows in popularity every single day. Your article should reflect that mentality.
Now you don’t want it to short and leaving out critical information but trim all you can without sacrificing the meat of it and you will probably have a winner.
4. Establish Yourself As An Expert: This is very crucial to your articles getting the exposure you really want. This takes some time it could take 100 articles before you really gain some credibility.
Don’t let this daunt you develop the mindset to let this be an opportunity to really dive into the niche you want to provide solutions for and really become the expert.
People involved in internet mlm are always looking for answers about something so let’s be the ones to roll up our sleeves do the research and provide them.
These efforts won’t be wasted and in the long term will be well worth the sacrifice. I hope this information gives the beginner a good start and thanks for stopping by.
And as always.
Make Today Your Day,
Steve Shoemaker

I can attest that your headline “article marketing basics for business building internet…” and your substance is clear.
Thank you for the great compliment I hope it has helped in you in some way.

This is one of the most important post I ever encountered today, I’m talking about this part of your post “… reflect that mentality. Now you don’t want it to short and leaving out critical …” it makes me to feel brighter after reading it.
This is by far one of the neatest written articles on this field. I was searching on the exact corresponding subject field and your post completely took me off with the way you understand this subject field. I congratulate your insight but do provide me to come back to input further as I’m currently extending my research on this field further. I will be back to join in this discussion as I’ve bookmarked and tag this very page.

I agree and sometimes you will need that flexibility to reach different people so it is definitely a skill worth acquiring. Thank you for the visit Andrea.

Yes Tommy and we know that we don't won't to be banned from the big one (ezine) but they have very simple protocol and it is not hard to follow.
Steve Shoemaker
Thank you Hector and I agree in fact it can be the lifeblood of your business if done correctly.

This is very true Copy writing is so powerful to everything. You can say something 50 different ways, and it could mean the same thing. But the impact will make or break you. It is all in the words.
Thanks,
Andrea
Steve,
Great tips my friend. These are some of the keys of writing a
good article. You want to make sure you do it right because
if not, the site may ban you from submitting content.
Have a great day,
Tommy D.
Thank you Tommy this is some great advice I am to working on a system but for some reason the software isn't cooperating. As far as videos I totally agree I have been making them to accompany the articles I have submitted. I appreciate your comments they will come in handy.

Great post Steve..
Article marketing is NOT dead – contrary to popular belief, it just takes time and dedication to actually make it work and build that credibility.(just like you mentioned)..
Thanks for sharing this with us

Steve,
I love article marketing and have set up a system that has 120 directories that I will send my articles to.
Your main concern is having an awesome resource box is people are jumping over the fence to click your link.
Here is another quick gold nugget, when doing article marketing, make sure to record a 30 video summarizing your article and submit that to the video sites. It will give you backlinking and extra traffic.
It works like a charm.
Have a great night!!
Tommy D.
Thank you Ryan quality always rules. The old adage never wears out content is king. I heard a top marketer say that if you master copy writing you can write your own check.

Wow you probably took on 2 of the hardest methods for generating leads right out of the gate. Well it took gaining that experience so that you can enjoy your success now. Thanks for the advice and off to the trenches.

Thank you Allan I glad it was helpful. I wish you success and I believe if we use these guidelines I was advised upon we will reap the rewards. Keep me posted I would like to know how it works for you as well.

Hi Steve,
You make a number of excellent points about article marketing.
The focus should be on content creation. When you pen a great article you won't have any problems getting clicks on your links. No need to be a shill when you can easily sell by writing a helpful article.
I agree with your 400 – 800 word limit. I wrote a few mini-novels which were solid pieces but didn't generate much interest. I probably lost them after the 3rd paragraph
Thanks for sharing your insight
Ryan
Hi Steve,
This is going to be one of my next avenues to add to my marketing funnel. This was a good primer on what to do.
Thanks,
Alan
Great tips there Steve!
I tore into PPC and article marketing when I first got started and failed at both. LOL…
PPC – because I had no idea what I was doing and article marketing, because I had no real clue about keywords.
If there is one thing I can advise as with all marketing is that laser targeted keywords is a MUST! I have continued with articles but have not been doing nearly enough of late and am about to return so I will see you in those keyword trenches my friend.

Thank you Sherman and the best of luck to you. I think it is very powerful when done correctly. Take Care.

Great post Steve. I just started doing article marketing and these tips help out a lot. Thanks for the info.
Well here is living and learning thanks for the insights as we all can see your skills have vastly improved since then. Thanks Jerome.

I really like that idea that way your not restricted your thought process to fit the keyword. I use that strategy a lot.
Steve Shoemaker
Thank you Erin I appreciate it I will keep you posted.
Thanks Steve! Good tips and I love article marketing, it does good things to your blog
Great tips as usual Steve.
I would add one thing, when writing an article write it for your audience not the search engines. Create a useful article written naturally and then go back and edit for keywords.
Great points on Article Marketing Steve.
I remember one time (4 yrs ago) I had included links within my articles and they continuously refused to publish them. I later learned this was a no no.
Live and learn, this is the only way we are ever going to get good at it.
Have a great weekend,
Jerome Ratliff
