Article Marketing: A Do And A Don’t

by Steve Shoemaker on August 16, 2010

%keywordArticle Marketing

something I have

worked at and read

about but haven’t

really focused on as of yet.

But that is about to change.

In my last post I discussed a great tool to optimize my seo onpage.

Now I want cover some tools for the obtaining back links and my experience and thoughts on each.

So despite the title Article Marketing: A Do And A Don’t I am going to start with the don’t first.

So I am on a webinar with your neighborhood friendly guru and he is telling us how he uses article marketing as pretty much the backbone of his marketing strategy for his
internet mlm business.

But not only this he has a super duper backlink building tool that no sane marketer doing article marketing can live without.

He goes through the whole spill how he is regularly getting top ranking with google using his network marketing software.

In conjuction with an mlm blog and you guessed it article marketing.

The tool I am referring to is the automatic article submitter.

According to this particular guru you are supposed to be able to get up to 300 backlinks per submission and everything even the signing up of accounts was automatic.

The greatest thing since sliced bread for article marketing right? Wrong!

The reality of it was this (mine anyway).

The signing up process is far from automated it will sign you up for some but at best is semi-automatic.

At best I was submitting to 60-80 article sites because a lot were hacked or just didn’t work at least not for article marketing.

I couldn’t figure that out and when I emailed many times for advice or to ask for help I never got  a response.

I guess being based out of the country excuses you from this courtesy.

Now I have read about and watched videos on other people who have  seen success with it and say it’s a powerful way to do article marketing.

I am merely writing about my experience with it.

But not stupid enough to give up on a great strategy like article marketing I kept at it.

Like it usually does persistence pays off after hitting some forums and doing research on google I found a service that fits my needs and maybe your as well.

What I found was isnare.com an article distribution site.

For those unfamiliar with article submission and article distribution and what it can do for your article marketing efforts here is an explanation:

If you submit an article to an Article Submission site (aka an Article Directory site).

What can happen is your article may be reprinted on any number of other websites that draw their content from that particular Article Directory, and each reprint carries your Author Byline with a link to your website.

Article Distribution sites, on the other hand, take care of submitting your article to multiple Article Directory sites for you, saving you the extra work.

I guess what you have to decide is if you are willing to pay for someone to do this for you.

And what this could mean for your article marketing strategy.

I realize there are other sites like this but I think I have found one that really suits my needs.

They have free article submission to their site much like Ezine.

The starting distribution package is basically $2 per submission.

Of course this per price drops as you buy into bigger packages.

For me it seems very reasonable price for the amount of exposure you article can get.

I hope this info has been helpful and if it has please share this content.

It’s very easy click on any of the facebook buttons the tweet button at the top and let them do all the work.

You could also click the digg or bookmark and share its up to you.

What I would like most is a comment and let me and other people know how article marketing has helped your internet mlm business.

Thanks for the visit and again what are the pros and cons in your opinion with article marketing.

Take Care,

Steve Shoemaker

Hey Walter it’s all about trial and error. The automatic article software may work better for you. But I have to say most of the feedback from other people it’s not worth hassle take that for what it’s worth and the best of luck. If I can help you let me know.

Great article Steve. I use Automatic Auto Submitter and really like it but it certainly has it’s drawbacks. Anyone who says you get 300 backlinks is full of it. There are over 300 submission that get set to go out but it’s more like 100 – 120 that actually get the submission and as you said probably more like 60 – 80 that actually publish. Still those are great numbers to have per 250 – 500 word article as they can be pumped out daily.

In just 1 week of using the auto submitter I took my traffic from around 200 visitors per day to over 400. Keywords are the key.

Thanks for the tip on Isnare, I’ll check that out!

Automatic Article Submitter really got on my nerves! Every big promise of it was a painstaking task to achieve.

In all honesty I turned me off from article marketing. It took way to long to do what it was supposed to do, and then it only did 30% of what it promised (my experience).

However. I know article marketing is hugely powerful. I will get back into it soon.

Thank you your take on it

The guru somehow made it look all so easy I really thought I had a winner.

After that I went with the Ezine Article Submitter plug in and that works great.

I hope you get back in the saddle man and thanks for your visit.

“Doing it wrong”

So what you speak about, I did it. I did it wrong. But then I got wise and figure out how to do it right. Now I regularly do article marketing. I use all different type of article marketing sites.

What a great reminder, even though maybe you didn’t intend that – that’s what hit me. :)

Hey Steve

I too have the Atomatic Article Submitter software.

I spent the whole day setiing it up and registering with all of the sites, so yes it is a lot of work.

Here is a tip, I use the second tier of article sites to support the articles I submit to the first tier, ie Ezine.

So I actually write two articles, one for the first tier sites and one for the second tier sites. All of the articles spun for the second tier link to the first tier articles.

Hi Steve,

I have been on the fence for months on whether to invest in an article submssion program or not. I have been using article marketing for quite a long time and I manually submit everything and one thing I am starting to see is more sites using the CAPTHCA program. I know that the submission programs get the content out to hundreds of other sites, but at what quality? With me doing it manually I can usually tweek the HTML code to add in hyper inks back to my blog, and another link to my business opportunity. I have also noticed that if I was not adding them in manually , they may not go, and if they did how would it look?

While adding things manually I know it does take longer but it is my name,my reputation and many times my face out there next to the article. Do I want to be know for great valuable content or mixed up jibberish that looks like a “copy” that lost its luster.

Reply

Steve Shoemaker August 17, 2010 at 10:29 pm

Robert,

Great question yes I think it could be an issue even though it says it submits to high ranking sites what would it look like.

As far as adding links if you need to there is a little tool called the myspacegenerator.com to help with that to.

I use the ezine plug in to submit but you can’t add links from your dashboard so I use this comes in handy.

Hi Steve,

I had a similar experience with another article submission software (articlepostrobot). And I had received rave reviews before I decided to purchase it. Needless to say, it flattered to deceive. They don’t offer automated signups anyway and at best have around 50% success rate on posts and a very poor log which doesn’t give the correct picture of results.

Another issue is, and I guess most of the robots and automaters will face is the increasing number of content sites that employ “captcha” for submission. If it becomes widespread most of the bots will be rendered worthless.

Anyway, will stick with it for some more time. Hopefully persistence will pay sometime.

Hey Steve, yes..I had the same experience with an automated article submitter & was so disillusioned by the whole thing that I gave article marketing a miss for quite a while now.

I make use of a free traffic system that is similar & works with you to get blog posts of yours put onto quality sites, this generates 30 or more quality backlinks for you with every post you make & submit.

Another part of the service is that you can get guest bloggers to post content onto you blog for you, that is related to your blog niche, but it still gives you total control over the post. I’m using it on my new blog & it seems to be quite a good way to get content without having to write it myself.

Stay inspired!
