5 Tips To Not Be That Guy In Social Media

800 million people on Facebook….

180 million of those are Americans or if you like statistics 1 out of every 2 adults…

Twitter just hit 3oo million..

People in a network marketing business are coming to the party in droves trying to take advantage of this amazing trend.

For a lot of network marketers the temptation is to use social media to advertise their businesses and promote their messages.

But network marketers before you take off your consumer caps and put on your marketing caps please realize that people are being bombarded with this stuff already all day so congratulations you just blended in.

The “secret” to social media for network marketing business owners is to be human.

Don’t be a business or product and don’t have that included in your name be who you are, be authentic, really listen, tell great stories and share interesting stuff be interested in others.

In other words be likeable and that means creating value for others.

Here’s 5 tips I want to share with you…

Listen First:  Before your first tweet have you ever thought about doing a search first to see if people are talking about your business or maybe have a problem that you now your product, opportunity could fix?

Try this go to search.twitter.com and do a search for  ”need to lose weight” for instance and see what you come up with.

If your in this niche like a lot of network marketing business owners are who knows what the opportunities could be if you handle them the right way (i.e. not throwing up your business all over them)

Here is a result I got:

Sounds pretty serious to me might be a cool person to connect with and maybe what you have in a weight loss product he identifies with.

Don’t tell people to like and follow you try telling why and how: I see all kinds of messages of people telling others “Like Us On Facebook” or “Follow Us On Twitter” huh? what? WHY? Give your target market a reason to connect with you (remember what’s in it for me) and make it easy to do so. Which call to action do you like better “Like my network marketing Facebook page” or “Get your questions answered about network marketing at my Facebook page”?

Ask Questions Communication Works Like That: People not responding to your post on Facebook? It’s probably not a big mystery more than likely your not asking questions. It’s about engagement and having a conversation. Instead of “Take The 90 Day Challenge” I see plastered everywhere for instance how about asking “Whats your favorite flavor shake strawberry or chocolate?” I guarantee you get more response and comments.

Share Pictures And Videos: A big part of Facebook’s phenomenal growth is pictures and the ability to share them and also why Pinterest is breaking all kinds of growth records in social media. Pictures and videos tell a story about you that text never can people can get to know and engage with the real you in a very powerful way.

Spend At Least 30 Minutes On Social Media: Everyday something changes on social media there is a new way of doing things or opportunities present themselves but you have to be present to take advantage of them.  Spend real time each day reading and learning, listening and responding, really join the conversation. The more real time you put into social media the bigger your network marketing business will grow.

Above all else, keep that customer cap on, and follow the golden rule: Would you yourself click the “Like” button, the Follow button, or retweet button if you saw you or your network marketing business on Facebook and Twitter? Would YOU want to be friends with you or your business at a cocktail party?

  1. Love the picture, Steve. Hope I don’t come across that way LOL. This is great advice. I know that when people contact me about my fibromyalgia, I tend to cringe. “Oh, boy, here comes another sales pitch.” I want to be loved for myself, not my autoimmune disease. I try to remember that when talking to people about network marketing ideas. I really do want to help people who are having financial difficulties, but I don’t want to be that push salesperson. You post had a lot of good ideas to tuck away.

    All the best,

    • Ben I think we have all been through the process. I think the important thing to remember is that we actually evaluated the results (which were probably none)and made the right adjustments it’s all about learning and growing. Thanks for the visit.
